  • Understand how the original audience’s history and culture affected their understanding and application of a biblical passage

  • Utilise features of a study Bible to determine the literary and theological issues critical to a particular passage’s original meaning and application

  • Combine cultural, historical, literary and theological analyses to aid in interpreting what a biblical passage meant to its original audience and how they applied it

  • Explore the needs of contemporary ministry contexts to establish one suitable for application of a specific biblical passage

  • Evaluate the differences between the contexts of the original passage and a contemporary ministry

  • Extract principles of a biblical passage, relevant to a contemporary context

  • Apply extracted principles in a contemporary ministry context

Requirements

  • Passion for correctly and fully understanding the meaning of the biblical text

  • Be able to appreciate the varying cultural contexts of the biblical text and its effect on the intended meaning of the text.

  • This course is a foundational building block for Biblical study. It is suitable for people who want to be able to correctly handle the Word of Truth.

Andrew is an experienced Online Coordinator with a demonstrated history of working in the e-learning industry. Skilled in non-profit organizations, E-Learning, coaching, organizational development, and instructional design. Andrew holds a Master of Arts focused in Ministry from Harvest Bible College.
